Dr. Hung has been in private practice in Lincoln, NE since July 2001. Prior to that he graduated from high school from his hometown of Lindsay, Oklahoma. He then completed a combined six year BA./MD at The University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1995. General surgery residency followed with an surgical internship at University of Colorado 1995-1996, and then completion of full surgical training back in Kansas City where he learned the techniques for open gastric bypass.
As a general surgeon who specializes in weight loss, Dr. Hung was instrumental in starting the bariatric/ weight loss surgical program in Lincoln. Prior to this, no weight loss surgeries had been performed in Lincoln since the mid 1990’s. Initially, open gastric bypasses were done beginning in 2002 and then this evolved to laparoscopic gastric bypasses in 2004. The adjustable Lap Band procedure was instituted in July 2005.
Since 2002, Dr. Hung has performed over 450 gastric bypasses and approximately 600 Lap Bands. With guidance and direction from Dr. Hung, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln has received two important citations in regards to bariatric surgery. Blue Cross/ Blue Shield has designated St. Elizabeth’s a Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery, and Surgical Review Corp has also approved the facility as a Bariatric Center of Excellence. This places the bariatric program at Surgical Associates, PC in the highest regard nationwide as only 602 surgeons nationwide and 349 facilities have received this level as of August 2008.
Dr. Hung is a board-certified general surgeon and is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He is also a nation-wide proctor for the Lap Band system by Allergan. Laparoscopic surgery, also known as minimally invasive surgery, has always interested Dr. Taddeucci. He was selected for a one-year fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at the University of Tennessee-Memphis. The primary focus of this training was weight loss surgery, including laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding, and gastric bypass revision surgery. During this year of training he became proficient in all aspects of weight loss surgery, including pre-operative and post-operative care. He trained under Dr. Atul Madan, who is now the chair of the Division of Laparoendoscopic and Bariatric Surgery at The University of Miami, and Dr. David Tichansky, who is now the director of the Division of Bariatric Surgery at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia.
To date, Dr. Taddeucci has performed nearly 200 Lap-Band procedures and around 100 laparoscopic gastric bypasses.
